Where will you go?

When M. Russell Ballard said this, he meant to fill us with dread. But this question opens up a world of hope and possibilities.

So... Where will you go, my friend?

Reminiscent of free-flowing mimosas during Sunday brunch, the bright, energizing scent of this candle will help your mind explore the limitless new paths in front of you. Whether it's your local pub, back to school, or New Flippin' Zealand (to visit fellow Look-Where-She-Went exmo Jacinda Ardern), enjoy the places you'll go!

SCENTS

I like to burn "Where Will You Go?" in the morning when I'm getting ready for the day. The citrus and ginger always put me in an alert, optimistic frame of mind.

•  Top Notes: Brut Champagne, Satsuma Orange

•  Middle Notes: Ginger Shavings

•  Base Notes: Citrus Medley

CANDLE INSPIRATION

The "Where Will You Go?" candle was inspired by M. Russell Ballard's 2016 address in General Conference. He used this question to try to frighten people out of leaving the church. (In reality, he inspired a whole new series of ex-Mormon memes on Reddit.)

If I had been an active member when he gave that talk, though, his message would have worked on me. Leaving Mormonism was scary for me, and I was terrified of what my life would become when I did leave. My patriarchal blessing only hammered that home; all of the blessings promised were contingent upon my faithfulness to the church. If I left, would I ever meet someone and fall in love? Would I lose my ability to have kids?

It would have meant the world to know about the vibrant online family of ex-Mormons that I would later discover, or to know what all the possibilities in front of me really were.

In many ways, this candle is a gift to my younger self, and an affirmation that I did the right thing in leaving. And if you've been through some ups and downs in your journey out of the Mormon Church, this candle is dedicated to you, too.

"Where will you go?" doesn't have to be a scary question. It can be a joyful question. Here's to finding joy in answering it.

QUALITY + SUSTAINABILITY

All ExMo Candles are hand-poured in small batches, and each of our recipes is tweaked and tested before coming online. We take pride in the quality of our candles.

Our candles are also vegan-friendly, made and packaged sustainably, and pthalate-free. Our commitment to sustainability includes a partnership with One Tree Planted, where we donate the money to plant 100 trees for every 100 candles sold.

Finally, the removable labels on our jars make them easy to upcycle. Woohoo!

DISCREET PACKAGING

We know that you might be living with members of the church, or heck, that your mailman might be Mormon. For that reason, we've chosen not to brand our outer packaging in any way. No one will be able to tell from the outside of the box that you've ordered anything related to being an ex-Mormon. This includes the shipping label, which will simply say it's from Jen + Adri.

PRODUCT + FULFILLMENT DETAILS

The "Where Will You Go?" candle is guaranteed to give you 40+ hours of burn time. It comes in a glass jar with an aluminum lid, and it measures 3.5" tall and 2.75" across. The net weight is 7.1 oz.

Because all ExMo Candles are handmade to order, please allow a 7-day processing time before your order ships out.
