CANDLE INSPIRATION

Oh, hi! Charisse here. While the name "Worthy AF" is undoubtedly sassy, the meaning is extremely sincere and personal.

As a Mormon, my worth as a woman, as a wife, as a potential mother, as a church member, and really, just as a human in general, was measured and determined by men in suits who didn't really know me. I hustled to prove my worthiness by doing all the things a good Mormon does, but somehow, I always still felt worthless, no matter what I did.

Through the process of getting divorced and subsequently leaving the Mormon faith, I learned to see my innate worth. (After all, it had always been there.)

I learned that no one can measure or determine my worth because it's not up to them anyway.

I. Am. Worthy. I always have been.

My hope is that through the sassy, zingy scent and name of this candle, you, too, can know that you're truly Worthy AF.

And it came to pass that in the land of Utah there was a ginger by the name of Charisse, who was Mormon and who was living a stereotypically married, Mormon life. When she found herself navigating an unexpected divorce, she dove headfirst into a full-fledged existential crisis, which landed her in the hospital and led her out of her lifelong faith.

Soon after, she moved 2,000 miles away from everything and everyone she'd ever known so she could find out who the hell she was without the cultural influence and expectations she'd been raised with. Years later, and after LOTS of therapy, she's still figuring it out (and let's face it: probably always will be). She's recovering from addiction, co-dependency, serial people pleasing, and religious trauma.

The Existential Ginger Podcast is a place for Charisse and her guests to explore the life experiences that have changed them, broken them, and put them back together. Charisse is here to be who she needed at rock bottom. She's here to heal loudly, drink some blasphemous beverages, and have a little fun along the way, all while unpacking old narratives and confronting previous identities.
