CANDLE INSPIRATION
The LDS endowment ceremony depicts Adam and Eve thrust into "the lone and dreary world" after being expelled from the Garden of Eden.
As an active Mormon, the world outside of Mormonism can feel a lot like that lone and dreary place. There's language in the church encouraging members to be afraid of "the world", to mistrust "the world".
Leaving Mormonism is extremely scary for some of us. It was terrifying for me, and I was looking for danger and heartbreak everywhere once I stepped away. I'd been told to expect that.
I made this candle for my younger self. To tell her to throw on her cloak and just get out there, to view the world with fresh eyes and be open to new experiences. I made this candle to help her remember that if the church was wrong about so many things, it surely must be wrong about the dangers of being out in the world, too.
The world is a vast place full of possibility! There are adventures to be had here!
QUALITY + SUSTAINABILITY
All ExMo Candles are hand-poured in small batches, and each of our recipes is tweaked and tested before coming online. We take pride in the quality of our candles.
Our candles are also vegan-friendly, made and packaged sustainably, and pthalate-free. Our commitment to sustainability includes a partnership with One Tree Planted, where we donate the money to plant 100 trees for every 100 candles sold.
Finally, the removable labels on our jars make them easy to upcycle. Woohoo!
DISCREET PACKAGING
We know that you might be living with members of the church, or heck, that your mailman might be Mormon. For that reason, we've chosen not to brand our outer packaging in any way. No one will be able to tell from the outside of the box that you've ordered anything related to being an ex-Mormon. This includes the shipping label, which will simply say it's from Jen + Adri.

A nice pine like smell! Kind of makes me feel like hanging some colored lights and drinking some eggnog!

I love that image, Daniel! (And you’ve just made me think…we ought to have an eggnog candle this winter! ??) I’m so happy you like the candle, and thanks a bunch for leaving a review! You rock!

This candle surprised me by quickly becoming one of my favorites! I love that it smells like a campfire in winter, and it also has a kind of sweetness that I can’t put my finger on. It honestly does remind me of a lone and dreary world, but in a good way. It makes me think of walking on like a mysterious, foggy frozen lake and seeing a faint light ahead. It may be cold outside, but my heart is warm. I am bundled up nice and tight and I know if I keep moving forward there will be a friendly stranger ahead with food and wisdom to share.
